Conmebol sets Libertadores group draw date, Corinthians to learn when

Throughout this Friday (20th), Conmebol released the details of the group stage draw for the 2026 Conmebol Libertadores. The organization announced that the event will take place on the upcoming March 19th, Thursday, in Luque – the institution's headquarters – in Paraguay. It is worth remembering that the Alvinegro qualified for the tournament by winning the Brazilian Cup championship for the fourth time in 2025, against Vasco da Gama, at Maracanã.

Thus, the team led by coach Dorival Júnior is in pot 2 – following the criteria of the Conmebol South American ranking – and, in the group stage, they may face teams from pots 1, 3, and 4, except for Brazilian teams – only if they come from the preliminary stages, as could be the cases of Botafogo and Bahia.

The group stage of the international competition is scheduled to start on April 7th, running until May 28th. The grand final is set for November 28th. The club from Parque São Jorge has one Libertadores title in its history, won in 2012, undefeated, and since then, in the years they participated in the tournament, they reached the quarter-finals at most (2022).

Meanwhile, in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2018, they were stopped in the round of 16. In 2020 and 2025, they were eliminated in the preliminary phase. Corinthians' last international title was in 2013, when they won the Recopa Sudamericana against São Paulo, with a 4 x 1 aggregate score over two matches.
