It was Bolivia’s second match of the window. On Sunday, both featured in a 2-0 loss to Paraguay at Audi Field in Washington, where Miguelito started, left on 43 minutes of the second half and also missed a penalty. Contreras came on as he departed.

The pair are due to face Gambia in Bolivia on Sunday 4 at 17:30 Brasília time.

At club level, Miguelito has lost ground under coach Cuca after new arrivals. Before the pause he had been starting and scoring, and he agreed a new deal through 31 May 2029. Since the extension he has struggled for minutes, appearing in only six games since returning after the World Cup.

In the Brasileirão he featured against Botafogo, Internacional and Cruzeiro, and in the Sudamericana against UCV of Venezuela and Macará of Ecuador. His season tally stands at 26 appearances, two goals and three assists.

Contreras is a regular in Santos’ under-20 side, with four Copinha matches, one goal in five Paulista outings, three in 18 Brasileiro games and one in one Copa do Brasil tie.
