Corinthians return to the Brasileirão with the Conmebol Libertadores now front and centre after a Copa do Brasil last-16 exit.
According to Globo.com, they visit Red Bull Bragantino on Sunday at 18:30 Brasília time, at Cícero de Souza Marques in Bragança Paulista. Mid-table, they have breathing room domestically.
That comfort heightens pressure for the round of 16 against Rosario Central, on 13 in Rosario and on 20 at home. If eliminated, they would have no route to silverware this year, as they trail leaders Palmeiras by 18 points.
With August under way and four months left, the league would become a chase for continental qualification. The Libertadores carries extra weight after holders Corinthians were eliminated by Internacional in this year’s cup, the first major test of Fernando Diniz.
The 2026 budget expected at least a domestic cup quarter-final, and the exit cost R$ 4 million. A Libertadores quarter-final would bring US$ 1.7 million, about R$ 8.6 million.
Matheuzinho said they must impose their rhythm across both legs, give nothing away and take that approach into the Libertadores. Rodrigo Garro said he believes in Corinthians and the group, describing the competition as a dream they will pursue.
