Independiente Santa Fe beat River Plate 8-7 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in Argentina on Wednesday, completing the Copa Sudamericana 2026 quarter-final line-up and setting up a tie with Vasco.

According to Globo.com, the last-eight ties are Boca Juniors v São Paulo, Independiente Santa Fe v Vasco, Santos v Atlético-MG, and Cienciano v Montevideo City Torque.

The quarter-finals are scheduled for eight to 17 September. The semi-finals are slated for 13 to 21 October, and the final will be a single match on 21 November in Barranquilla, Colombia.

Four Brazilian clubs remain, São Paulo, Vasco, Atlético-MG and Santos, joined by Boca Juniors from Argentina, Independiente Santa Fe from Colombia, Montevideo City Torque from Uruguay and Cienciano from Peru.

Among the Brazilian quartet, only São Paulo have lifted the trophy, in 2012, and they were runners-up in 2022. Atlético-MG lost last year’s final to Lanús. Vasco and Santos are seeking their first final.

Elsewhere, Boca Juniors own two titles, 2004 and 2005. Cienciano won in 2003, and Santa Fe in 2015.
