Copete undergoes second knee operation, season over | OneFootball

Valencia centre-back Copete is out for the season after a second operation on his left knee. Tribuna Deportiva reports that surgeons cleaned an infection in the joint operated on earlier this year.

He suffered a meniscus injury in his left knee on 22 February and required surgery. A return before the end of the campaign was unlikely, though there was some hope if his recovery had advanced well.

He will continue with his recovery programme, but he will not play again this year.

Copete had become a key figure for Carlos Corberán after a hesitant start, cementing his place in a back line that lost Diakhaby in December for the rest of the season.

The setback comes as Cömert is sidelined for the trip to Mallorca and Unai Núñez nurses a contracture that leaves him a doubt for Tuesday. As it stands, only Tárrega is available in defence for the next match.
