Valencia endured another fractious night with their own fans in Seville, as head coach Carlos Corberán and his players were berated outside the Sánchez Pizjuán. Chants of “Corberán dimisión” and “Jugadores mercenarios” accompanied the squad as they boarded the coach for the airport, according to AS.
Around 100 travelling supporters watched from the away end, and about a dozen confronted the party near the stadium as they left. The shouting continued while players and staff got on the bus.
The team are due to land at Manises in the early hours. Groups of fans are organising on social media to head to the airport.
Two weeks ago, after the match at Riazor, a similar number had already heckled the players on arrival.
After the Sevilla game, Pepelu, Gayà and Maffeo expressed understanding of the supporters’ anger. The Hispano-Argentine was the most forthright, saying the team need the fans now and they can tell them to go to hell and lay into them at the end of the season.
