Carlos Corberán has finally filled Valencia’s week with friendlies after the start of LaLiga, initially slated for the weekend of 16 August, was pushed to Saturday 22 August at Real Betis’s request. According to Superdeporte, the head coach has moved to arrange matches to keep sharpness.
The team had been seeking one friendly for weeks, and it will now be two, ahead of the official opener on 22 August against Real Celta de Vigo at Mestalla, kick-off 19:30.
Before facing Celta, Valencia will host two Primera Federación opponents at the Ciutat Esportiva de Paterna. First up are CD Teruel on Wednesday 12 August in the afternoon at the Antonio Puchades.
CD Teruel, from Group two of the Primera RFEF, arrive having beaten Atlético Levante 2-1 and drawn 0-0 with CD Castellón B.
In principle, a day later, on Thursday afternoon, the blanquinegros will also face Ibiza, although that friendly is still being finalised with the Balearic club.
After the LaLiga opener against Real Celta de Vigo, Valencia will again welcome Betis to Mestalla on Tuesday 25 August in the match corresponding to matchday one, with a 21:00 start.
