According to Le Progrès, Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso (30) is likely to miss the remainder of the season in Ligue 1 after sustaining a knee injury against Saint-Étienne in the Derby du Rhône on Sunday evening. The World Cup winner had to be stretchered off due to a robust challenge from Lucas Stassin.

The Belgian forward was initially sent off for his rash challenge on the OL vice-captain, but this was finally reduced to a yellow card following a VAR review. Due to Tolisso being stretchered off, initial fears were that the midfielder had suffered a knee injury. The 30-year-old has already suffered two serious knee injuries during his professional career.

However, scans have shown promising signs that the knee injury is not as serious as first thought. The Frenchman has suffered a small internal sprain on his knee rather than any ligament tears or damage. Whilst this is promising, the injury is still expected to see the France international out of action for several weeks.
