The Orlando Pride have searched for new achievements all season. Now they have a 1-0 victory where the score doesn’t tell the entire story.

The Houston Dash fell 1-0 to the Orlando Pride in a match that went 90 minutes without a score from either side. But in the final stoppage time, the epic duel between defenses and goalkeepers came to an end.

Last season, only the second Orlando Pride squad to make the playoffs went all the way to the final NWSL game. They won the league championship. So what could they possibly achieve now?

This Pride squad is the greatest any supporters have seen. Yet, they aren’t perfect. Late last season, one of the players spoke up after one of their imperfect performances. It resulted in a 3-1 loss to Gotham FC.

After the match, defender Cori Dyke said she knew what the Pride needed to do to finish the season on top. Obviously, Dyke knew she was talking about. She and her teammates won the NWSL Championship.

After all, at that time Dyke had achieved almost everything possible in the NWSL except for one thing. She hadn’t scored a goal.

In one of the toughest matches ever played in NWSL, the Pride came out on top 1-0. It was Cori Dyke who scored the winning goal, and the only one of the game. That is the first goal of her career.

Dyke described her chance as one players dream about. It was midfielder Summer Yates who created space for a cross caught by Dyke. She sent a powerful, contested skimmer into the back of the night in the ninth minute of stoppage time.

This is the second-latest game-winner in the league this season. Goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse tallied her fourth clean sheet of the season and 200th of her career.

The Houston Dash put up one of the fiercest fights that the Orlando Pride faced this season. This time, the Pride cracked open the Stonewall defense. And they kept their wall in place.
