On Sunday, Corinthian-Casuals will honour Corinthians in London ahead of the Brazilian club's 116th anniversary on Tuesday, 1 September.
According to Meu Timao, supporters of the English club and Fiel Londres, the Corinthians fan group in London, will attend. Beforehand, a memorial match for Stuart Tree, a respected sports photographer, designer and key figure in the club's history, will pit Fiel Londres against Corinthian-Casuals FC Legends.
After the game, the anniversary celebration will follow. The club invited fans on social media and stressed the chance to strengthen bonds with their Brazilian brothers.
The bond dates to 1910, when Corinthian, before merging with Casuals, toured Brazil. In Rio de Janeiro, they won 10-1 against Fluminense, 8-1 versus Rio XI and 5-2 against The Brazilians.
They then moved to São Paulo, beating AA das Palmeiras 2-0, Paulistano 5-0 and SPAC 8-2. Those last three matches were watched by workers Joaquim Ambrósio, Carlos da Silva, Raphael Perrone and Anselmo Correia, plus contractor Antonio Pereira, who then founded Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, naming it in direct homage.
In 2021, Tomás Rosolino and former Casuals player Chris Watney released the book 'Corinthian: A mais bela história do futebol mundial', recounting the British club and its link to Corinthians. This year, Corinthians' women were in London for the Copa das Campeãs, some players attended a Casuals match and English fans later backed the Brabas during the tournament.
