Corinthians aim for winning run not seen since the end of the 2025 season

On the evening of next Thursday (19th), at 7:30 p.m. (Brasília time), at Ligga Arena, Corinthians will visit Athletico-PR in a postponed match from the second round of the Brazilian Championship. Currently, the Alvinegro has three points from two games – three goals scored and two conceded – occupying 12th place in the national tournament.

Against the Paraná team, Corinthians will be seeking a positive streak that hasn’t happened since mid-October and early November. In that period, the club from Parque São Jorge achieved three consecutive victories, against Atlético-MG, Vitória, and Grêmio, respectively, all in the last edition of the Brazilian Championship.

The matches against Atlético-MG and Grêmio took place at Neo Química Arena, with Corinthians winning 1-0 and 2-0. Against Vitória, they won 1-0 away from home at Estádio do Barradão. Since then, the club from Parque São Jorge has managed, at most, two consecutive wins on three occasions.

Between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026, Corinthians beat Vasco da Gama 2-1 in the Copa do Brasil final at Maracanã, and 3-0 against Ponte Preta at Neo Química Arena in the opening of this year’s Paulistão. In the second round of the Campeonato Paulista, however, the reserve team was defeated by RB Bragantino, 3-0, at Estádio Cícero de Souza Marques in Atibaia.

Additionally, on February 1 and 5, they beat Flamengo 2-0 at Mané Garrincha in Brasília in the Supercopa do Brasil final, and also had a 3-0 win over Capivariano in Itaquera in the sixth round of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista group stage. This last positive streak was broken with a 1-0 defeat to Palmeiras in Itaquera, in the penultimate round of the Paulistão first phase.

In the last two games, the Alvinegro beat RB Bragantino away, 2-0, in the second round of the Brasileirão, and 1-0 against São Bernardo FC at Primeiro de Maio, in the last round of the state championship’s first phase. If they beat Athletico-PR, they will achieve a streak not seen since the end of last year – as mentioned at the beginning of this article.

This season, the club from Parque São Jorge has already played 11 matches, with six wins, two draws, and three losses – 15 goals scored and eight conceded – a 60.6% success rate.
