Corinthians aim to end nine-year away hoodoo at Internacional, stats

On the evening of this Wednesday, October 1st, Corinthians returns to the field for the Brazilian Championship. In a match valid for the 26th round of the competition, the Alvinegro faces Internacional at 7:30 PM (Brasília time) at Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre. After two consecutive defeats, a good result in the South is crucial for Timão to avoid the risk of getting close to the G-4 of the national tournament.

However, for that to happen, Corinthians will need to break an uncomfortable taboo that has lasted nine years, as the team's last victory against Internacional at the opponent's home was in the 2016 Brazilian Championship. On that occasion, the match ended 1-0 for the People's Team, with the only goal scored by Elias.

Since then, the teams have faced each other eight times with Internacional as the host. In total, Corinthians managed six draws and lost the other two games, scoring eight goals and conceding ten. Of this total, seven matches took place at Beira-Rio, with the only exception being the 2024 Brasileirão game, which was held at Orlando Scarpelli Stadium due to floods in Rio Grande do Sul, which made it impossible to use Inter's home.
