Corinthians have appointed Emily Lima as head coach of the women's side on a two-season contract, replacing Lucas Piccinato, who was dismissed after the 2-2 draw with Fluminense at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileiro. The club said in a statement on Tuesday.

Lima arrives on a free, having left Levante in October. She reported to the club last Tuesday to complete formalities and will start work with the squad on Wednesday.

She described the Corinthians shirt as respected worldwide, calling the role a milestone in a 16-year coaching career. Lima said she intends to honour the club by continuing existing work through hard work.

Her recent spell in Spain was difficult, with 10 defeats and one draw in 11 matches. Before Europe, she coached Juventus, São Caetano and Santos, and worked with the national teams of Brazil, Ecuador and Peru.

Club president Osmar Stabile welcomed the appointment, praising her professionalism and alignment with the club's values. Lima was among several candidates, with talks advancing to a deal on Monday after interest in Felipe Freitas, who chose to remain at Bahia, and Marcelo Frigerio, a free agent since leaving Pumas at the end of 2025. Department director Iris Sesso also highlighted her pioneering profile.

Lima now has a window to prepare, with Corinthians back in action on 13 March against Palmeiras at 21:30 at Arena Barueri in the third round of the Brasileiro Feminino. During this period, ten players will be on international duty in the FIFA window.
