Corinthians arrived in London on Wednesday for the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup, but travelled with an incomplete squad. Only 23 of the 26 registered players are currently in Europe after paperwork delays.
According to Meu Timao, midfielders Paola Garcia and Dayana Rodríguez and forward Gisela Robledo were held up by bureaucratic issues and did not fly with the group. The trio are expected to resolve documentation and join in the capital before the opener against Gotham FC next Wednesday, and it is considered unlikely they will be missing for Lucas Piccinato.
The Colombian pair and the Venezuelan have different UK entry requirements. The government offers ETA and standard visas, Brazil can use either, but Colombia and Venezuela do not yet have the digital authorisation.
In the current squad, only Uruguay international Belén Aquino had clearance in time to travel with the team. Among the foreign players, injured Argentine defender Agustina Barroso was the only one not on the registered list.
Corinthians have begun preparations with a near full group at Barnet FC’s facilities. They will train there until the semi-final on 28, when they face the Americans at Gtech Community Stadium at 9:30 Brasília time.
