Corinthians are expecting the return of centre-back João Pedro Tchoca after Torino cancelled his loan move following additional medical assessments, according to Meu Timao.
The 22-year-old passed initial tests, however further checks were requested due to earlier issues and indicated a bone condition described as arthritis, prompting Torino to withdraw.
In recent days the Italians considered proceeding and asked for more weeks of tests, but the European window’s looming deadline led them to end talks.
The deal was a loan until July 2026 for 1.5 million euros, with 4.5 million in triggers if he played at least 45 minutes in ten matches, plus up to 1 million in bonuses. In total it could have brought about R$43.8 million to Corinthians, one of their most lucrative centre-back deals.
At under-17 he suffered a serious knee cartilage injury and spent about one year and four months out. At under-20, an ankle injury led to his withdrawal from a Brazil call-up.
Corinthians say they were unaware of any issue that would prevent him from playing. He will rejoin the first team, will miss the Supercopa do Brasil final, and should be available to face Capivariano on 5 February at 20:30 in the Campeonato Paulista.
He will wear the number four shirt and his contract runs until 30 November 2030. His return lifts the senior centre-back group to five, alongside Gustavo Henrique, André Ramalho, Gabriel Paulista and Cacá.
