Corinthians await left-back's call, won't overspend to keep him

Signed at the beginning of 2025, Corinthians, according to information initially published by ge.globo, has reached a 'ceiling' in negotiations for the renewal with left-back Fabrizio Angileri. The Argentine's contract with the club ended on the last December 31st (Wednesday), and therefore, the player is now a free agent.

Moreover, according to the report, Corinthians still believes they can reach an agreement to retain the player, but they will not make changes to the last offer sent to the player and his representatives. The portal also reported that the Corinthians leadership does not wish to enter a bidding war.

In fact, according to ge.globo, Corinthians has already been informed that there are two Brazilian clubs that have made offers for the player. The issue that has been 'stalling' the negotiations is related to the signing bonuses requested by the 31-year-old left-back. As for the contract duration, both parties were discussing a two-season deal, with the possibility of extension for another year.

Fabrizio Angileri was signed by Corinthians in February last year after not renewing his contract with Getafe, Spain, where he was not getting much playtime. The player came to Parque São Jorge with the approval of Ramón Díaz's coaching staff, who would leave the Alvinegro three weeks after the Paulista Championship title.

Initially, the Argentine became the undisputed starter at left-back, as Matheus Bidu and Hugo Farias had started the 2025 season with constant fluctuations. However, after the state title against Palmeiras at the end of March, the Argentine's performance declined, and Matheus Bidu regained the position, especially after the arrival of coach Dorival Júnior at the end of April.

With Dorival, Angileri started being used more as a left-sided third defender, often playing in tandem with Matheus Bidu, who took on the wing-back role in that area. Wearing the Corinthians jersey, the Argentine has accumulated two assists in 42 matches (26 as a starter), in addition to winning two titles: the Paulista Championship and the Copa do Brasil, against Palmeiras and Vasco, respectively, in 2025.
