Corinthians host Internacional on Thursday night seeking to overturn a 2-0 first-leg loss and reach the Copa do Brasil quarter-finals. According to Meu Timao, a comeback would also stave off their first elimination before the semi-finals since 2021.
That year, then coached by Sylvinho, Corinthians fell to Atlético Goianiense in the third phase. They lost 2-0 at Neo Química Arena in the first leg, then drew 0-0 in Goiânia, exiting before the round of 16.
In 2022 they reached the final, only to lose to Flamengo on penalties.
In 2023, under Vanderlei Luxemburgo, they went out in the semi-final against São Paulo, winning 2-1 in Itaquera then losing 2-0 at Morumbis.
In the following season they again fell in the last four to Flamengo, losing 1-0 before a 0-0 draw at Neo Química Arena.
In 2025 Corinthians finally lifted the Copa do Brasil again, drawing 0-0 at home with Vasco da Gama and winning 2-1 at Maracanã to secure their fourth title.
To advance directly on Thursday, Corinthians must win by three or more at Neo Química Arena. A two-goal victory would take the tie to penalties, as away goals are not used.
