Corinthians visit Flamengo at the Maracanã on Sunday at 17:30 in the 27th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, aiming to halt a near four-year winless run at the ground. According to Meu Timao, Fernando Diniz's squad are prioritising recovery in Série A.
The São Paulo club last won there on 2 November 2022, a 2-1 success in the 35th round. With assistant Filipe Almeida deputising for the suspended Vítor Pereira, Du Queiroz and Yuri Alberto scored.
Since that victory, there have been four meetings at the Maracanã and the hosts have won them all. In 2023, Flamengo edged it 1-0.
The following year brought two further defeats, 2-0 in Série A and 1-0 in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-finals, after which Corinthians were eliminated. Last season, Flamengo won 4-0 in the league.
Across 52 visits to the stadium, Corinthians have 11 wins, eight draws and 33 defeats, for 41 points and a 26.28% return. They have scored 44 goals and conceded 92.
Corinthians arrive on a run of four straight league losses. They sit 11th on 32 points, 11 off the Libertadores places and seven clear of the Z4.
