Corinthians chiefs meet SAFIEL reps, receive proposal documents

One day after presenting the detailed project to establish an SAF at Corinthians to the press and fans, SAFIEL leaders attended a meeting this Wednesday, the 29th, at Parque São Jorge, where they met with club president Osmar Stabile and the president of the Deliberative Council, Romeu Tuma Júnior. The purpose of the meeting was to deliver the project proposal to the club's leaders, including the letter of intent with the next steps planned by the group.

The meeting lasted about three hours, in a conversation considered friendly in tone, where both parties made remarks not only about the SAFIEL project but also regarding the reform of the club's statute, a measure supported by the creators of the proposal delivered to the club. However, the memorandum of understanding was not signed, as first reported by Fábio Lázaro on the UOL portal—information later confirmed by Central do Timão.

This document aims to officially record Corinthians' agreement with the next steps of the SAFIEL project, which revolve around conducting financial feasibility studies, analyzing documents delivered to the club by oversight bodies (such as the CD) and also by compliance, as well as hiring an external audit to evaluate the club's assets and debts, through actions such as a due diligence. These commitments would become mandatory after the memorandum is signed.

It is worth remembering that SAFIEL aims to establish an SAF to manage Corinthians' football, taking on the debts and assets as well as all property related to football operations, such as the Joaquim Grava Training Center and the Neo Química Arena. The project estimates raising up to R$ 2.5 billion through shares, with R$ 1.5 billion from fan quotas and R$ 1 billion from companies—these without voting rights.

“The representatives of SAFiel, Carlos Teixeira and Eduardo Salusse, personally delivered, today (10/29), to the president of the Corinthians Council, Dr. Romeu Tuma Jr., and to the president of Corinthians, Osmar Stabile, the Non-Binding Letter of Intent for the project.

The presidents thanked them, asked for some clarifications, and made comments.The meeting lasted about three hours and was very cordial. Dr. Romeu Tuma Jr. said he will submit the letter-proposal to the Legal, Compliance, and other internal departments. He also committed to inviting SAFiel for a presentation to all council members and interested parties, on a date to be scheduled.

He made it clear that the immediate focus is on updating the club's statute, a statement with which the SAFiel representatives agreed.

During this period, SAFiel will continue to publicize and clarify the project to all interested parties.”
