Fernando Diniz explained his sweeping rotation after Corinthians beat Barra 1-0 in their Copa do Brasil opener, saying the call was guided by recovery needs and internal data. According to Meu Timao, he shifted course after largely sticking with the same side. It was his fifth match in charge.

Diniz kept his debut XI from the Platense win for the games against Palmeiras and Independiente Santa Fe. There were only two enforced changes against Vitória after Matheuzinho and André Luiz were sent off in the derby. The team underperformed against Vitória, failing to register a shot on target.

Against Barra he overhauled the line-up, starting Kauê, Matheuzinho, André Ramalho, Gustavo Henrique, Fabrizio Angileri, Allan, Matheus Pereira, Jesse Lingard, Dieguinho, Kayke and Pedro Raul. Around 10 minutes in, Kayke went off injured for Vitinho. Lingard struck late in the first half, finishing after a Pedro Raul header.

Diniz said only one of his usual starters, Gustavo Henrique, completed the match, and that Kayke would have been the other without the injury. He cited physiological and biological metrics, conversations with players and staff, and his reading of the Vitória game as reasons to rest key men.

He added that easing off was the right call to aid recovery, noting a deep and balanced squad, even if continuity can build understanding when games come thick and fast. Corinthians host Vasco da Gama at Neo Química Arena on Sunday, 26 April, at 16:00, seeking to end a run of nine league matches without a win. Diniz’s side are 17th in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
