Corinthians concede in six straight, beat early 2025 unwanted record

With an alternate lineup, Corinthians reached their sixth consecutive game with their defense being breached. The team led by Dorival Júnior conceded two goals against Fortaleza at Arena Castelão, further worsening their average goals conceded in recent matches.

Since the defeat to Red Bull Bragantino, Timão hasn’t managed to go 90 minutes without conceding a goal. They have conceded 11 goals in six games, an average of 1.83 goals per match. The worst streak of the season had previously been in February, with five consecutive games conceding, eight goals in that period, but without any overall defeats.

Besides Fortaleza, Timão’s recent opponents were Botafogo, Cruzeiro, São Paulo, Ceará, and Red Bull Bragantino. In this sequence, Corinthians managed only one victory, in the Majestoso, where they conceded just one goal. In addition to the draw against Glorioso, there were four other defeats, which took away the club’s chance to stabilize in the standings.

The inconsistency becomes even more evident when compared to the five games prior to this poor run. In that stretch, Corinthians had four wins and only one defeat, conceding three goals, all in the loss to Santos away from home. Furthermore, they scored eight goals in the previous period, compared to seven recently.

Corinthians are looking to end this bad run in the final stretch of the Brasileirão, aiming to build momentum for the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil. The next match takes place this Sunday (7th), against Juventude, in the last round of the championship, at Neo Química Arena.
