Corinthians’ Deliberative Council is preparing a working group to deepen debate on SAF and the club’s finances, aiming to equip councillors and members for any future investor proposals involving a change to the football management model.
According to Meu Timao, council president Romeu Tuma Júnior is already sounding out names at Parque São Jorge. The group would bring together councillors and other stakeholders, plus legal, tax and related specialists.
The current expectation is that it will be created in the coming weeks, possibly after the final public hearing on Statute reform on 9 February. Early topics include Corinthians’ financial position, options to tackle debt, the impact of tax reform on the association, and the pros and cons of each governance model.
The group is expected to have autonomy to set its agenda, including the option to invite representatives from SAF projects to present their proposals.
At the end of the process, it would produce a report to be shared across the club, supporting management decisions and sharpening debate should an SAF proposal advance internally.
An earlier working group in 2024, created by Tuma, is cited as inspiration. That mixed committee, which included councillors such as Ademir Benedito, Felipe Ezabella and Fernando Perino, plus then directors Pedro Silveira, finance, and Vinicius Cascone, legal, recommended reactivating the Regime Centralizado de Execuções. The board adopted it in November 2024, and court approval of the payment plan confirmed this week is viewed as evidence that such groups can add value.
