Corinthians’ deliberative council has set 25 May to vote on expelling former president Andrés Sánchez from the club’s membership over improper use of a corporate card.
According to Globo.com, internal investigations at Parque São Jorge found Sánchez used the club card to cover personal expenses between 2018 and 2020 without submitting accounts.
Spending flagged as irregular included hotels and restaurants, furniture stores, jewellery and clothing, as well as clinics, hospitals and air travel companies, with no link to official club business.
At the session, councillors will decide whether to expel the member permanently or impose alternative sanctions such as a warning or suspension.
They could also close the disciplinary case, which would leave the ex-president without any internal punishment.
The corporate card affair has already led to two complaints from the Public Prosecutor’s Office being filed in court.
