Corinthians defender called up for Under-17 Women's World Cup

The Brazilian Football Confederation announced this Wednesday, the 15th, the withdrawal of defender Emily França from the Under-17 Women's World Cup. In her place, Corinthians' full-back Dany Pereira was called up.

Emily's withdrawal occurred due to pain in the pubic area, which had been limiting her movements. After evaluation by the Brazilian delegation's doctors, it was decided to cut the athlete, who belongs to Ferroviária. Dany Pereira is now preparing to join the team in Morocco, the host of the competition, which starts this Friday, the 17th.

With Dany's call-up, Corinthians now has five representatives in the Under-17 Women's World Cup. Besides the full-back, coach Rilany Aguiar called up goalkeeper Ana Morganti, defender Dulce Maria, and midfielders Pepê and Júlia Faria.

The Brazilian team debuts in the competition this Friday against the host country, Morocco. Costa Rica and Italy complete Group A.

Born in 2008, Dany Pereira has been playing for Corinthians' Under-20 and Under-17 teams. This season, she has played 16 matches — seven with the younger team and nine with the older. Currently, the player is a starter in the quarter-finals of the Paulista Women's Under-20 against Palmeiras. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the Brabinhas are seeking victory to advance to the next stage.
