Corinthians defender hails semi-final spot and team unity

On the night of last Tuesday (11), Corinthians and the Fiel experienced emotional moments in the decisive match against Magnus in Sorocaba. After losing in regular time, Timão sought classification in overtime, with two goals from Marlon, one of the protagonists of the decision.

“I think at the beginning of the second half we were under a lot of pressure, we managed to hold on for a while and then no more. Then we had to put the goalkeeper in line and the score widened a bit, right? But we knew we had at least 40 minutes, I wouldn't say for free, but at least we could in those 40 minutes.”, the player began in an interview with Canal GOAT, about the difficulty of the classification.

“Unfortunately it didn't happen in that part of the game, but we were also prepared for the next ten. So, I think we are very happy today for not stopping at any moment, for believing. It's really nice to see the fans supporting us, it really pushes us, it really helps us. And I'm very happy that, after being away for so long, almost seven years, to return to play in the National League, which is one of the best, in a game of this level and to be able to help my team in such a short time of integration with my teammates”, he added.

Even with little time in Brazil, Marlon adapted to the Corinthians squad and has been important in the team led by Fernando Malafaia. Now, the focus is on winning the two titles contested at the end of the season.

“I think my characteristics, luckily, fit within the team, so I am managing to help in perhaps more than one role, maybe the experience of all this time, as I am nearing the end of my career, so to speak, this helps me a lot to have a slightly different view of futsal today. I think things are working and I am very grateful to all my teammates who are helping me at this very important moment in my career, representing a club of this size and performing very well”, emphasized Marlon.

As mentioned, Corinthians is seeking the two titles in dispute this year: the LNF and the Paulista. The next commitment is this Thursday, against Ferroviária Pinda, in the first leg of the state semifinal.
