Corinthians defensive duo rack up standout stats for the club this season

The 2025 season is nearing its end and Corinthians is looking to finish with the Copa do Brasil title after a year of ups and downs. However, despite the team’s fluctuations, some players from the Alvinegro Paulista have posted standout statistics.

According to data provided by the Sofascore app, which specializes in sports statistics, defender Gustavo Henrique is the Série A player with the most aerial duels won in the second half of 2025, with 91 out of 120 contested, maintaining an efficiency rate of 76%.

During this period, the defender played 25 matches, scored four goals, made 162 clearances, 234 defensive actions, no major defensive errors, won 128 duels out of 190 contested (67% efficiency), and had a 90% pass accuracy rate.

Another player with positive numbers is right-back Matheuzinho. Corinthians’ number 2 is the second Série A player with the most tackles in 2025, with 146 tackles in 55 matches (50 as a starter), averaging 2.65 per match.

Still according to Sofascore, the player also has three goals, five assists, 377 defensive actions (6.9 per game), as well as an 86% pass accuracy rate, 31% cross accuracy, and 55% efficiency in duels.

The duo returns to the field this Sunday (14th), at Neo Química Arena at 6:00 PM (Brasília time), when Corinthians faces Cruzeiro in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil semifinal. Timão won the first leg 1-0.
