Corinthians have pushed back delivery of their 2026 budget review to September after missing a pledge to present it by August. According to Meu Timao, the August target was set after the finance department was questioned in July over an earlier statutory delay.

Article 120 of the club’s Statute requires the budget to be renewed by the end of June, the midpoint of the financial year.

The review is awaited amid worsening finances highlighted in first-half monthly statements. By June the accumulated deficit stood at R$ 246 million, 78 per cent above the projection for the period and far from the R$ 12 million surplus forecast for 2026 in the budget approved by the Deliberative Council in December.

The missed window was attributed to work finalising monthly balance sheets, which were presented on Monday at a meeting of the Conselho de Orientação (Cori).

Delays are not new. Since 2020, no administration has delivered the revision within the statutory deadline.

Under Augusto Melo, responsible for only one full year in 2024, the picture was at its worst. A single revision was made in March, justified by the fact the original budget had been drawn up by the previous board, and no further update followed.

In 2025, after Melo was removed and Osmar Stabile assumed provisionally in May then permanently in August, the review returned. It still arrived late, with the Deliberative Council approving the revised numbers only in early October.
