Corinthians denied by CNRD, still banned from signing new players

The National Chamber for Dispute Resolution (CNRD), an entity linked to the CBF, decided this Monday to keep Corinthians banned from registering new players. The club's request to suspend the transfer ban was denied, prolonging the restriction that has been in effect since October 20.

In addition to the punishment applied at the national level, Corinthians also continues to face another transfer ban imposed by FIFA, which further limits the board's actions in the market.

In the decision released today, the members of the CNRD judging panel emphasized that the release for new signings is contingent upon a "change of attitude" by the club. According to the body's understanding, this necessarily involves strict compliance with the payment schedule of the debts included in the agreement signed in April this year.

Timão failed to meet the first two installments of the plan on time, making the deposits a few days late. The total amount of the agreement is R$ 76 million.

Despite the maintenance of the punishment, the CNRD clarified that the transfer ban does not have a fixed term of six months, as some creditors had requested. Internally, Corinthians believes that regularizing the next installment, due on January 17, could be decisive for the suspension of the penalty.

The agreement mediated by the CNRD involves debts with clubs, agents, and athletes who operate in Brazilian football. Among the creditors, Cuiabá appears as the main one, with approximately R$ 18 million to receive related to the negotiation of midfielder Raniele, completed in 2024.

Meanwhile, the alvinegra board is trying to advance in settling an estimated debt of R$ 40 million with Santos Laguna, from Mexico, related to the signing of defender Félix Torres. Regularizing this debt is considered crucial to overturn the transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
