Corinthians derby venue TBD, São Paulo get 4 more Brasileirão dates

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) released this Sunday the details of four more rounds of the Brazilian Championship, but the venue for the derby between São Paulo and Corinthians is still undefined, since Morumbi will once again be occupied by concerts.

Aside from the venue for the Majestoso, Tricolor learned the dates and kickoff times for rounds 31, 32, 33, and 34 in this final stretch of the Brasileirão.

During this period, São Paulo will play two home matches, against Vasco and Corinthians, and two away matches, against Mirassol and Bahia.

The big question is the venue for the derby. Morumbi will host South Korean band BTS on October 28, 30, and 31, and the match between São Paulo and Corinthians was confirmed for November 4, a Wednesday, at 9:30 p.m. (Brasília time).

As AVANTE MEU TRICOLOR reported in August, São Paulo is working on an agreement with Santos for a stadium ‘swap’ and could face Corinthians at Vila Belmiro. Sources from São Paulo’s top brass told the report that a number of alternatives were considered, such as Brinco de Ouro and Ribeirão Preto. But because of logistics and with head coach Dorival Júnior’s approval, Vila seemed to be the best option.

However, the short four-day gap is unlikely to be enough because of the time needed to restore the pitch at the Tricolor stadium after setting up the concert structures. Since there will be three performances, the field usually takes a beating and takes time to become available again for football.
