Corinthians have begun a full pitch renovation at Neo Química Arena during the World Cup pause, aiming to improve performance when the surface returns to use.
The club said in a statement that works include intensive steps, scraping old organic matter and lifting the synthetic fibre below the surface to level the field.
The project continues a replacement started mid last year in the Club World Cup break, when only new synthetic fibres were stitched in.
In September, the surface was restored with NFL investment before a regular-season game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.
The target is to match the pitch quality from the 2014 inauguration. This is the first time such work has been scheduled for the Brazilian winter, which favours ryegrass, used year-round in Itaquera via pitch-cooling technology.
A full changeover had been pencilled for late 2025 and early 2026, but a short off-season moved it to June and July. The work is being carried out by World Sports.
To limit disruption, Corinthians timed the overhaul for the domestic pause. After a 3-1 win at Grêmio in Porto Alegre on 30 May in the league, the squad went on holiday and is set to resume next month, with 22 July the base date to face Remo in Itaquera.
