Corinthians have set out why defender Gabriel Paulista and midfielder André Carrillo will miss Sunday’s meeting with Fluminense, which kicks off at 16:00 at Neo Química Arena in the 28th round of the Brasileirão.
The club said in a statement that Paulista has a medial collateral ligament strain in his right knee, while the Peruvian has posterior left thigh muscle oedema. Youngster Iago Machado and midfielder André Luiz come in, the latter returning to the starting line-up.
Both started the Libertadores quarter-final defeat to Estudiantes. In that match the midfielder was withdrawn after 24 minutes of the second half for André Luiz, and the centre-back went off in stoppage time for Pedro Raul.
Gabriel Paulista is a fixture alongside Gustavo Henrique, with 41 appearances, 39 starts, and two goals. Carrillo has featured in 39 games, 19 from the start, with one assist.
Midfielder Zakaria Labyad and forwards Kayke and Yuri Alberto are also unavailable with medical issues.
Corinthians aim to halt a run of five straight league defeats and six games without a win. The alvinegro sit 14th on 32 points.
