Corinthians director reveals progress on works at Estádio Alfredo Schürig

Corinthians remains prohibited from hosting night games at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, after delaying the maintenance schedule and structural works on the stadium’s lighting equipment, which has deteriorated over time.

At the beginning of May this year, the São Paulo Football Federation had notified Corinthians about this prohibition, after the Brabas debuted in the state championship of the sport, against RB Bragantino, with lighting failures at their stadium. Subsequently, the club sent a schedule to the entity, which consisted of: a technical visit still in May, definition of the new project and budget between May and July, start of works in August, and completion in the second half of 2025.

The director of women’s football at Corinthians gave an interview to the portal Meu Timão and stated that the process is much more complex than simply replacing the lighting structures at Fazendinha. The director also commented that technical studies, detailed projects, and a bidding process are required to enable the start of maintenance.

“Yes, there really was a delay in the forecast to be able to finalize the whole issue. The problem is that it’s not something so simple to solve; it’s not just an electrical part, just a replacement, not only of bulbs, nor just wiring. I think it involves a bit more, it’s something more complex. Some companies, some professionals specialized in this sector have already visited, conducted studies, made a project, and then there’s also the bidding part, to have some budgets that have to be sent to the administrative board so that a study can be done.”

“So that we can have things well aligned, with good work, with reasonable costs, and this really took longer, and we weren’t able to finalize it. Actually, I’m not very up to date on whether a company has already been chosen to do this. What I know is that there was indeed this delay, and I believe we won’t have enough time, until the end of the season, for this to be resolved. But I truly hope that, from the beginning of the year, we can have this definition and solve this problem that has a big impact, not only on women’s football, but also on the men’s youth categories and other events”, she said.

Given the mentioned problem, Corinthians Women, when they have games at night, have been using Canindé (Portuguesa), Mercado Livre Arena Pacaembu, and Estádio Municipal José Liberatti (Osasco).
