Corinthians discover quarter-final rivals in Paulista women's basketball

Corinthians already knows who they will face in the quarterfinals of the Paulista Women's Basketball Championship. It will be Pró-Esporte/Sorocaba, the team that was placed in the Furiosas’ path after the end of the realignment phase. The Paulista Basketball Federation (FPB) will still announce the dates and times of the matches.

Having achieved the best campaign in the realignment, Alvinegro secured the advantage of playing up to two games of the best-of-three series at home—the second and the third, the latter if necessary. In addition to Corinthians vs Pró-Esporte/Sorocaba, the winners of SESI Araraquara vs Taubaté, Unimed Campinas vs São José, and Santo André vs Ourinhos will also advance to the semifinals.

It’s worth remembering that Timão had a perfect performance during the realignment, even facing the other three best teams from the first phase of the state championship. There were three wins in three games, with the Furiosas defeating Unimed Campinas 79-61, Santo André away 92-72, and finally SESI Araraquara 65-59.

The Paulista Championship is Corinthians’ last opportunity to end the current season with a title. In the other competitions this year, the Furiosas were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the Women’s Basketball League (LBF) and finished third in the LBF Cup.
