Corinthians draw with Atlântico, lose on penalties, exit Supercopa

On the night of this Monday (9), Corinthians faced Atlântico at the Perinão Gymnasium in a match valid for the quarterfinals of the Supercopa Gramado de Futsal and ended up being defeated in the penalty shootout by 4 x 3 after a 2 x 2 draw in regular time. The goals for the Alvinegro were scored by pivot Fabinho and winger Kevin William.

Coach Fernando Malafaia fielded the following team to start the match: Lucas Oliveira; Lucas Martins, Maicon, Renatinho, and Fabinho. The bench options were: Kelvin, Kevin William, Da Bonja, Igor Bredof, Bancatelli, Rick, and Nicolas. The opponent was lined up with: Ryan, Léo Oliveira, Serginho, PL, and Maicon.

Corinthians started the first half being superior, but the team from Rio Grande do Sul was efficient and ended up taking the lead with a firm finish from Dudu. Later, winger Maicon was sent off, and subsequently, the rival extended the lead with Serginho. In the second half, the club from Parque São Jorge performed considerably better and managed to equalize with Fabinho and Kevin. Even so, the Alvinegro could not avoid defeat and was overcome in the penalties.

It is worth remembering that, in the first phase, Corinthians drew with Carlos Barbosa by 4 x 2 and was defeated against Praia by 4 x 2. In the playoffs, they overcame Vasco da Gama by 3 x 1. With the elimination in the Supercopa Gramado, the club from Parque São Jorge will return to the courts only on the next March 28, Saturday, at 6:30 PM (Brasília time), away from home, for the first round of the National Futsal League (LNF).
