Corinthians edge Cruzeiro at Parque São Jorge, bounce back in NBB

On the afternoon of this Saturday (10), Corinthians hosted Cruzeiro at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, in a match valid for the 21st game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB), and won by a score of 95 to 83. With this result, the Alvinegro bounces back in the competition after a defeat to Minas and remains in sixth place in the tournament with 35 points – 14 wins and seven losses.

Coach Jece Leite chose the following lineup to start the match: Davaunta Thomas, Elyjah Clark, Victão, Rafael Munford, and Lucas Cauê. The opponent took the court with: I.Thornton, Gittens, Clay, Léo Abreu, and Da Silva. The main highlight for Alvinegro in the match was Elyjah Clark, who recorded 24 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds.

In addition, Rafael Munford scored 14 points, while Davaunta Thomas had 19 points and five rebounds. After starting the game by imposing their rhythm and winning the first quarter 23 to 17, Alvinegro saw the Minas team grow in the next two periods. The second quarter ended with a narrow Corinthians lead: 40 to 38.

In the third period, the club from Parque São Jorge had a blackout and lost 27 to 19, consequently falling behind on the scoreboard: 59 to 65. However, in the last quarter, Corinthians found their rhythm again and triumphed 36 to 18, turning the score around and finishing the match with a 95 to 83 victory.

Now, Corinthians will return to the court next Wednesday, the 14th, against Flamengo at Maracanãzinho, in a match valid for the 22nd game of the Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB).
