Corinthians enquire about Ceará’s standout midfielder for 2025

Despite being punished with a transfer ban by FIFA since mid-August, Corinthians continues to scout the transfer market and has made an inquiry about midfielder Dieguinho, who belongs to Ceará and was one of the team's standouts in the 2025 season, even with the team's relegation to Série B.

The information was published by journalist Samir Carvalho from Canal Café do Setorista. Furthermore, according to Meu Timão, Corinthians sought more information about the player directly from his staff, who in turn forwarded the Alvinegro’s interest to the board of the northeastern club.

Also according to the portal, Ceará informed Corinthians that they would only agree to start negotiations for the player upon payment. This season for Vozão, he scored two goals and provided two assists in 51 matches, according to data from the site Ogol. The player joined the Ceará club at the beginning of last year after spending four seasons at Goiás.

As reported by Samir Carvalho, the player's versatility, as he can also play as a right-back, is one of the aspects that pleases the Corinthians coaching staff. Dieguinho started in 31 of the 32 rounds he played for Ceará in the 2025 Brazilian Championship.

Before his stints at Goiás and Ceará, Dieguinho played for: Barcelona (RJ), Resende (RJ), Friburguense (RJ) (twice), Portuguesa (RJ), and Boa Esporte (MG). It is worth remembering that the punishment mentioned at the beginning of this article refers to the signing of defender Félix Torres from Santos Laguna, Mexico, in January 2024 – a debt of R$ 40 million.

So far, Corinthians has not managed to overturn the punishment and, consequently, has not made any signings. Forwards Talles Magno and Ángel Romero did not have their contracts renewed and have left the club. Midfielder Maycon, as well as left-back Fabrizio Angileri, are negotiating to stay. Pedro Raul returned from loan, reported back, and his future remains uncertain, as is the case with the trio Renato, Alex Santana, and Héctor Hernández.
