Corinthians eye billion-pound FIFA payout for called-up players

This week, FIFA announced the start of awards for clubs that have athletes who were called up by national teams for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. The distribution takes place through the Club Benefits Program, which already awarded teams of players chosen for the World Cup.

With this, Corinthians starts to keep an eye on a slice of this amount, which is close to R$ 1.88 billion, or 355 million dollars, to be divided among all the clubs that had athletes called up. Due to the number of athletes called up, the People's Team should receive a millionaire amount.

Just in the last FIFA date, Corinthians had the call-ups of five players: Hugo Souza (Brazilian National Team), Félix Torres (Ecuador), José Martínez (Venezuela), Angel Romero (Paraguay) and Memphis Depay (Netherlands). On another occasion, André Carrillo was also called up to represent Peru.

It is worth mentioning that, in addition to the Qualifiers, the distribution will also take place counting the days that the player represents the country in the World Cup. Currently, Brazil, Ecuador and Paraguay are guaranteed in the competition, while Peru and Venezuela are eliminated, and the Netherlands is not yet classified.

The highest entity in football has not yet announced how the count for the transfer of values will be. In the last World Cup, FIFA recognized all the days that the athlete was handed over to the national team, counting the first day of preparation until the last game played.
