Corinthians remain active in the market despite six signings and another advanced. According to Globo.com, there is an internal expectation of at least two or three more, and the club view the CBF exception window as a final chance to strengthen before 27 March.
The window only permits deals for players who featured in state championships during the first two months of the season. Executive Marcelo Paz, hired to lead the football department, is seeking options that fit the staff’s profile and the club’s finances.
Moves involving transfer fees are largely ruled out, with no cash reserve and a restrictive spending policy in place.
Early this week, Corinthians showed interest in centre-back Dantas, a standout for Novorizontino in the Paulista, but talks did not advance because Novorizontino demanded a fee.
In recent hours the board contacted Botafogo about goalkeeper Neto, opening talks shortly after João Ricardo of Fortaleza failed a medical in São Paulo.
Even with Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Matheus Pereira, Zakaria Labyad, Allan and Kaio César signed, and everything aligned to announce Jesse Lingard, Dorival Júnior still sees gaps for the Copa do Brasil, Conmebol Libertadores and Brasileirão.
The expectation is they will seek a back-up goalkeeper, a centre-back and another midfielder, seen as the thinnest areas of the squad.
