Amid debts above R$ 2.7 billion, Corinthians have until the end of Tuesday to pay Talleres for the 2024 signing of Rodrigo Garro and avoid another FIFA transfer ban.

ESPN reports that the clubs signed a commitment last Thursday to settle US$ 7 million net, after Andrés Fassi agreed to extend the deadline.

FIFA ordered payment of US$ 3.6 million in February 2025, prompting a CAS appeal. Talks later reopened under new president Osmar Stabile, who visited Córdoba and, in April, said the Cori had approved a payment plan.

The club turned to Outfield to assume the debt. Corinthians will owe the firm US$ 8.5 million, payable in 26 monthly instalments at CDI plus 1% per year, roughly 15.4%, secured against TV and advertising contracts.

Finalising the Outfield deal has been slower than planned, though progress was made last week. An end-of-May target slipped, then 12 June was set, before Fassi offered a final extension.

On 21 May, Corinthians were again barred by FIFA from registering players, this time over a debt to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez. They were ordered in September 2025 to pay US$ 1.425 million plus 15% annual interest and have appealed to CAS.

Wage delays have continued, with May salaries, due on the fifth working day of June, still outstanding for players and Fernando Diniz’s staff. Club employees were paid on Monday, limited to those hired as legal entities, after April’s squad wages also arrived five days late.
