Hundreds of Corinthians supporters gathered outside the Ministério Público de São Paulo on Wednesday, backing the possibility of judicial intervention at the club. According to Globo.com, they carried banners appealing for help from the institution.

The rally was organised on social media with backing from organised groups Gaviões da Fiel, Camisa 12, Pavilhão 9, Estopim da Fiel, Coringão Chopp and Fiel Macabra. Former striker Dinei, a club idol, joined the demonstrators.

Fans want prosecutors to file a lawsuit seeking the appointment of an intervenor at Corinthians. They cite dissatisfaction with successive mismanagement and debts around R$ 2.7 billion.

On 10 August, club president Osmar Stabile met prosecutors Luiz Ambra Neto and André Pascoal. The hearing sought clarification on management plus the club’s administrative and financial situation, and requested further documents.

The inquiry has no set deadline. Prosecutors believe it is unlikely to conclude in fewer than two months, which could push any outcome close to elections scheduled for the end of the year.
