Corinthians Futsal winger reviews team’s LNF progress, hails the Fiel

On the evening of last Tuesday (11), Corinthians visited Magnus at Arena Sorocaba for the second leg of the National League (LNF) quarterfinals and won in overtime with a score of 2-1, after being defeated in regulation time by 5-3, advancing to the semifinals. After the match, winger Luisinho analyzed the clash and celebrated the Alvinegro’s qualification.

“Man, it’s a classic, right? Corinthians and Magnus, so I think this game will always be like this (hard-fought). But I think we performed well, of course in the second half we could have done better, but that can happen too. Just like what happened in the first half there with us, we did well, scored three goals, and in the second half here they were better.”, the player began in a courtside interview.

“But thank God we managed to qualify, we know that the game between us and Magnus is always very balanced. But that’s it, man, like I said, we have to keep working, we will enjoy the victory today and tomorrow, but after that we need to start working, because we have the Paulista semifinal still this week, and then we have Campo Mourão who are doing well too, so we have to be happy, but not satisfied.”, he continued.

The Corinthians winger also highlighted the support of the Fiel even when playing away from home and called on the fans. In addition, Luisinho also spoke about the anxiety for the LNF semifinal, but pointed out that the team still has a decision in the Paulista Championship before that.

“Talking about them (the fans) is always emotional, because wherever we go, they always show up. And today, you must have filmed the fans, we felt at home. So, thank them, because they are our sixth player, and ask them to keep showing up both away and at Parque São Jorge.”, he said.

“Man, if I’m not mistaken, in 2023 I played there in (Campo Mourão) and they showed up, put on a beautiful show, so I’m sure they’ll show up again, but even so I want to call on them to come, because we’ll need them.”, the player continued.

“I’m anxious. It’s my first League semifinal, so I’m anxious, but like I said, let’s take it step by step, let’s think about Pinda now, then we’ll think about Campo Mourão so we can achieve our goals.”, he added.

Asked about rumors of a possible end to Corinthians’ professional futsal team, Luisinho did not hide his concern, but pointed out that the best thing to do is to leave the matter to the board and stay focused on the job.

“We get worried, but we have to leave that to the directors, to see what will really happen. And we keep working, because as long as we’re here, we have to do things right and train, play. That’s it.”, commented the winger.

Despite being young, at 22 years old, the athlete has been decisive for Corinthians. Luisinho celebrated his good form and also praised the positive moment that other teammates are experiencing this season.

“Man, we’re training for this, may it continue like this. But thank God for what’s been happening, all the glory is for Him. We have to keep working so that, God willing, if He blesses us, we can score in the semi, score in the final. And may we mainly become champions and then the goals will come.”, he stated.

“May it continue like this, both of us doing what we love. But Marlon was also a guy who arrived, a sensational guy, a team player, came to add a lot and it’s good that he’s also in a good phase, but not only him, Lucas Martins is also one of the League’s top scorers. So thank you for everything that’s been happening, may we keep scoring goals.”, the winger concluded.

It’s worth remembering that Corinthians won the National League in 2016 and 2022. The dates and times of the two semifinal games will be set soon. Before that, however, the Alvinegro will return to the court this Thursday (13), at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), to face Ferroviária Pinda in the semifinals of the Paulista Championship, at Ginásio Tobias Salgado, in Pindamonhangaba.
