Corinthians have been given breathing space to settle what they owe Talleres over Rodrigo Garro and avoid a fresh transfer ban, and intend to pay by the end of this week, according to Meu Timao.

The original payment deadline was last Friday, but contract drafts exchanged in April were delayed in getting final sign-off. Identidade Corinthiana first reported that a new due date would run for up to 10 days.

The revised terms require a lump sum of US$ 8.5 million, about R$ 42 million, including interest. The board led by president Osmar Stabile turned to a loan, and Central do Timão reports the funds will come from Outfield, an investments and sports strategy firm.

The debt stems from a FIFA ruling in February 2025 for US$ 3.6 million, roughly R$ 18.7 million. Corinthians appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to avoid another transfer ban after talks stalled amid strained relations between former president Augusto Melo, who signed Garro in 2024, and Talleres.

A change of approach under the current regime helped restart negotiations. Stabile travelled to Argentina to meet Andrés Fassi, and in early April said the club’s advisory council, Cori, had approved the payment plan.

Stabile also formed an internal group to steady finances at Parque São Jorge, disbanded last week after the exits of coordinators André Recoder and Gabriel Diniz Abrão. It helped settle sums owed to Santos Laguna for Félix Torres, ending the previous FIFA ban, and worked on the Matías Rojas and Talleres cases.

On the pitch Garro has stayed involved, with 25 appearances in 2026, 17 starts, one goal and eight assists, making him the squad’s leading provider.
