Corinthians hit with new Fifa ban over Charles debt, fourth transfer embargo | OneFootball

Corinthians have been hit with another Fifa transfer ban, their fourth of the season, blocking new registrations. According to Meu Timao, four sanctions total just over R$ 23 million.

The latest penalty runs for three transfer windows and stems from an unpaid debt to Midtjylland on the July 2024 signing of Charles. €800,000 is outstanding, triggering a €200,000 contractual penalty, taking the sum to €1 million plus 12% annual interest. The club must also pay a $60,000 fine and $25,000 in costs.

The deal was €1.6 million, split into €400,000 within five days of signing, €400,000 on 20 August 2024 and €800,000 on 15 March 2025. The first instalment was paid a day late after a brief extension, the second on time. The third was missed.

Midtjylland chased payment on 18 March, then served formal notice on 24 April setting 5 May as the deadline for the final instalment, the €200,000 compensation and 12% interest. It filed a Fifa claim on 15 May 2025, upheld in October. Corinthians appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but lost in May.

Earlier bans include a 21 May Fifa block over about R$ 7.7 million owed to Philadelphia Union for José Martínez. A second Fifa sanction on 13 July included a $225,000 fine for non-compliance in cases involving Philadelphia Union, Midtjylland and the 2025 loan of Talles Magno. The CBF added a six-month ban on 18 July over about R$ 8 million due under a CNRD settlement.
