According to Meu Timao, Corinthians expect to secure clearance from the STJD to stage Sunday’s 16:00 meeting with Vasco da Gama, the 13th round of the Brasileiro, at Neo Química Arena.
The club argues there is a 10 working-day window to ratify such rulings, which it says has not been met, so the match could remain at the Casa do Povo. Its legal department plans to file an appeal in the coming hours.
A final strategy is yet to be set, but options include a partial reopening for women, children, older people and disabled supporters, as used previously, or converting the sanction entirely into a fine.
The tribunal had imposed the loss of home advantage for one match and a R$ 80,000 fine under article 243-G, after a supporter racially abused Palmeiras goalkeeper Carlos Miguel during the Derby on 12 April. Corinthians interpret the ruling as preventing them from playing at their stadium with their fans.
Other penalties stand, including R$ 10,000 for disorder and security failings, linked to a drone carrying a plush pig and a stoppage caused by a kite line, and R$ 2,000 for unjustified delays to start and restart.
Midfielder André Luiz was banned for one match for conduct contrary to sporting ethics under article 258. Right-back Matheuzinho received a four-match suspension for physical aggression against Flaco López under article 254-A. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza was given two matches for insulting the match officials under article 243-F, but has a suspensive effect and is available.
The panel acquitted Breno Bidon and goalkeeping coach Luiz Fernando Santos. Palmeiras were fined R$ 20,000 under article 257 for taking part in a brawl or tumult.
Home backing is seen as key as Corinthians try to end a run of nine league matches without a win. They sit 17th on 12 points and could climb with a victory, depending on other results.
At their ground they have 234 wins, 116 draws and 60 defeats in 410 games, a 66.50% record, with 648 scored and 315 conceded.
