Deives, a former Corinthians futsal idol, used Instagram on Wednesday to urge the club to extend Memphis Depay’s contract, arguing the forward has raised the team’s level but that any deal should suit the club’s finances.
UOL Esporte reports that Depay’s representatives have received a renewal offer featuring a salary reduction and a revised pay structure.
His current deal runs to 31 July 2026. Under the proposal, Corinthians would cover 100% of his costs with no reliance on commercial partners or third-party sponsors. The plan could work only if sales of leading players, such as Yuri Alberto, André Luiz or Breno Bidon, ease the wage bill.
Deives maintains that no player is above the club and any agreement must reflect its situation, yet he considers Depay a first-tier, widely admired player who has improved results and secured titles while providing positive leadership. He is fully in favour of an extension.
Depay has been at Corinthians since 2024 and has played 79 matches with 35 goal contributions, winning three trophies. Deives represented the futsal side from 2018 to 2025, making 246 appearances, contributing to 180 goals including 156 scored and 24 assists, and collecting 16 titles.
