Corinthians idol: LNF 2025 title could be his biggest yet

On the evening of last Tuesday (9), Corinthians faced Jaraguá at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium in the first leg of the National Futsal League final, ending in a 3-3 draw. The goals for Corinthians were scored by Caio Barros, Vandinho, and Deives. The return match will take place this Saturday at 7 pm (Brasília time) in Santa Catarina. In the event of a draw in regular time and overtime, the champion will be decided by penalties.

Immediately after the final whistle, Corinthians' pivot and idol Deives gave an interview to the press and commented on whether a possible National Futsal League title this season would be the most important in his career with the club. It's worth remembering that the number 10 will end his career on the courts at the end of this year.

“I believe so, I believe so. It's 23 finals and ending this cycle with a final. And with the title, I believe it will be the most special. All of them, right? were special. There were nine editions of the National League and four finals. I believe that almost half of my participations were in the National League finals. And if we manage to bring this last title to Parque São Jorge, man, it will be a dream come true. And you can be sure that both I and this group will fight and bring it. A lot of effort, a lot of dedication to bring this title to Parque São Jorge”, he began.

In ten years with Corinthians – since 2015, there have been over 300 goals scored, including two National League titles (2016 and 2022), Futsal Supercup (2020), São Paulo Cup (2025), Mucho Más International Tournament (2025), Paulista League (2022), and the Paulista Championship of the sport.

Later, he talked about when he also became a fan of Corinthians on the courts, mentioning that at times he had chances to leave the club, but his identification with the club weighed on his decisions: “Man, when I had several opportunities to leave the club, including this was a team that tried to take me to Jaraguá do Sul many times, and I felt welcomed. In this journey, I felt a lot that the fans embraced me, and the episode that marked me a lot was when we had my son's illness. And the fans, man, it was a wave of affection.”

“There, I had the feeling of being embraced as much as a title. And for me, finishing my career at Corinthians was a matter of honor for me. After everything that happened with him, all the affection and that everything went well with him and my family, there I was sure that I had to end my career within the club with this beautiful journey. And it all worked out, man. Both with my family and with this film that played, this marriage that worked. I will only have good memories of this club that I love and now already think about the next steps. It won't be easy, but we'll go together. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he continued.

He then responded about the meaning of Corinthians in his life. In his reasoning, he recalled his arrival at Parque São Jorge and his entire journey up to the present day. The idol also spoke about what the Deives of 2025 would say to the same person ten years ago.

“Corinthians today is my life. Corinthians today, for me, is the childhood dream being realized. When I arrived here in 2015, I never imagined it would be such a beautiful journey as it was. And today, Corinthians for me is my second home. Parque São Jorge is my second home. And I just have to thank this club here. I will carry this club in my heart forever. I have two children who are Corinthians fans today and we will be able to cheer. Wherever Corinthians is, whether in futsal, football, basketball, any sport, I will always be on Corinthians' side.”

“I am a guy who lives the club here. We, in these last weeks, we lived, I lived intensely what basketball was also experiencing, with all these news. And for me, it was amazing, man, to live this and be on the side. I will always be on Corinthians' side, regardless of the sport. You can be sure that the journey here ends in an incredible way. But outside there will be one more fan, not just one more, because I have two more at home. So, in my family, there will be three more fans who will always be on Corinthians' side”, he added.

He continued: “Man, that Deives when he arrived didn't imagine, right, that... all this would happen today. that we would experience 23 finals. 16 titles. We will fight for the 17th. God willing, it will work out. Truly incredible. I don't even have words to say to that Deives there, because this Deives here is so happy, man, with everything that was built. But the Deives there also prepared, experienced defeats, experienced many more victories too. titles and an incredible relationship with the greatest fans in the world. And today I live and leave, I believe, with the duty fulfilled. that I sacrificed myself, fought hard to honor this jersey, I think it was all worth it. I believe that that Deives there... is fulfilled just as this one here is fulfilled today.”

Deives was also asked about the possibility of receiving a bust at Parque São Jorge, in front of the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, and spoke about what his life would be without Corinthians: “This is a story that many people talk about and I really leave the club very comfortable, if they find it deserved. I will be very honored if I am in this gallery of Corinthians idols. And if I can come back here 10, 20, 30 years later and have a memory of me here, it will be unbelievable. And to be on a level with Neto, Zé Maria, Neto, so many others who have been here and were honored, for me, it will be a huge honor, man, truly. Truly, and I leave the club very comfortable in relation to this. If it is the club's will, for me, it will be incredible, truly.”

“I believe that this journey would not be complete. Corinthians will always be part of my life. seeing my parents. Living Corinthians, right? They are elderly. My wife, my parents crying today at the end of the game. My son already crying. It's too emotional, too emotional. inexplicable, inexplicable. And I'm too happy, man. I think it will still sink in. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you”, he said.

Finally, he left a message for the next generations who will represent Corinthians on the courts and about his legacy at the club: “Even though I have been talking to the new generations that are here with me, the younger athletes. That they respect. The history of this club, that they understand the history of Corinthians. The least they have to do is give their best. I think that's what I can leave as a memory for these new generations. respect the jersey. as it deserves, as the history of this club deserves. And I believe it worked with me.”

I believe it's a legacy I leave. for the new generations of respect for the Corinthians jersey. of commitment, dedication, passion, will. that the fan felt represented. I believe that's what I... that I can leave as a good memory of everything I did here. goals, titles, but mainly respect for the Corinthians jersey and the history of this club as it deserves”, he concluded.

In Deives' last season as a futsal athlete and consequently with Corinthians, the Alvinegro has already won two titles (São Paulo Cup and Mucho Más International Tournament) and secured two runner-up finishes (Paulista Championship and Gramado Supercup).
