Corinthians land in England and begin preparations for the Copa das Campeãs

The Corinthians women's team has already landed on English soil to compete in the FIFA Women's Champions Cup, a tournament that marks the Women's Club World Cup. The alvinegra delegation landed on Wednesday morning (21st) at Heathrow Airport in London, England.

To prioritize the comfort of athletes and coaching staff members, the journey was carried out on two separate flights, both in business class. According to Meu Timão, the first group left Brazil on Tuesday afternoon and arrived in the English capital in the early hours of the following day. The second part of the delegation departed just before midnight and landed around 11:30 a.m. (Brasília time), at which point the players were welcomed by fans.

Members of Fiel Londres were at the airport to encourage the Corinthians squad. The athletes received tributes and gifts, with special mention to Gabi Zanotti, one of the team captains.

“It's great to feel this warmth from the fans, all the affection, they gave chocolate to the whole group. I want to thank Fiel Londres who showed up, bringing us this energy. It's important that we arrived a few days early for our adaptation here. I'm happy that we arrived well, now it's time to continue our preparation,” the athlete told Corinthians TV.

For the competition, Corinthians registered 26 players, with 20 of them traveling on the second flight. The squad, however, suffered last-minute losses. Defender Thaís Regina was left out after suffering a fracture in the fibula of her left ankle, while Agustina Barroso, who returned to the club in 2026, is sidelined due to a recurring strain.

Defender Erika, who recently renewed her contract until the end of 2027, spoke about the absences in the defensive sector and the uncertainty regarding the starting lineup.

“No one knows yet (the starting lineup), we joked that we've been training since we finished Libertadores, because there’s no time. I’m really sad that some of the girls had to stay. Two players due to injury, that obviously doesn’t make us happy, and we’re wishing all the best to those who stayed, but I’m sure they’re also rooting a lot for those who came here,” she said.

This Wednesday, the squad will carry out internal activities focused on physical recovery after more than 11 hours of travel. Starting Thursday (22nd), the Brabas will begin training at the Barnet FC complex in London.

Corinthians' debut in the Champions Cup will take place on January 28th, at 9:30 a.m. (Brasília time), against Gotham FC from the United States, at the GTech Community Stadium. The opponent is the current champion of the national league and the CONCACAF Champions League.
