Corinthians left-back looks ahead to Derby in the Campeonato Paulista

On the morning of this Saturday (7th), at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava, Corinthians wrapped up their preparations to face Palmeiras this Sunday (8th), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), at Neo Química Arena, for the seventh round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. Currently, the Alvinegro occupies fourth place in the overall standings with 11 points (three wins, two draws, and one loss – nine goals scored and five conceded).

The Corinthians squad started the day with a tactical instruction video and then a physical activation in the gym. Afterwards, following a warm-up on the pitch, coach Dorival Júnior led two tactical drills and a set-piece training session. For the match, Alvinegro is expected to be without defender Cacá (possible transfer), left-back Hugo Farias (knee injury), midfielder José Martínez (returned this Saturday), and forward Kaio César (muscle injury).

Right after the activity, left-back Matheus Bidu gave an interview to Corinthians TV and looked ahead to the match against the archrival in the state championship: “There’s always extra motivation when it’s a Derby. We know the Derby here means a lot. Regardless of past results, we try to focus on this year. We can’t relax and think everything is fine. We have to stay focused, keep up the same intensity. Keep doing what we’ve done in recent games. God willing, everything will work out and we’ll come away with the three points,” he said.

According to ge.globo, the Parque São Jorge club should start the match with: Hugo Souza; Matheuzinho, Gabriel Paulista, Gustavo Henrique and Matheus Bidu; Raniele, André, Carrillo (Rodrigo Garro) and Breno Bidon; Memphis Depay and Yuri Alberto.

In 2025, Corinthians and Palmeiras faced each other seven times – the year with the most Derbys in history – and the Parque São Jorge club had clear superiority. In total, there were three Corinthians wins, three draws, and one loss. In this context, Alvinegro won the Paulistão over Alviverde and eliminated their biggest rival in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil.
