Corinthians look to extend Canindé run to progress in Paulistão

Corinthians faces Portuguesa this Sunday (22) in the quarterfinals of the 2026 Paulista Championship, at 8:30 PM (Brasília), at Canindé, and is betting on its good track record at the opponent's stadium to qualify for the tournament semifinals.

In Timão's historical record at Canindé, including games against Lusa itself, matches against rivals from the state of São Paulo, and times when the alvinegro was the host at Portuguesa's stadium, the record is overwhelmingly positive, totaling 76 matches, with 48 wins, 16 draws, and only 12 losses at Canindé, with 154 goals scored and only 73 conceded in total.

In games against Portuguesa at Canindé, the history is a bit more balanced with nine wins for Corinthians, six for Portuguesa, and two draws, totaling only 17 games at the Lusitanian stadium despite recorded confrontations between the teams since 1921, completing over 105 years of matches between Timão and Lusa.

The last match between the teams at Canindé was in 2014, when Timão won 2-1 with goals scored by Romarinho and Guilherme, while Lusa scored with Henrique, the Harvester. It is worth noting that in case of a victory in regular time, Corinthians has a good chance of setting a semifinal clash at the Casa do Povo.
