Corinthians look to extend Ferroviária dominance in Libertadores

This Wednesday, October 15, the Corinthians women's team faces Ferroviária at the Florencio Sola Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a match valid for the semifinal of the Conmebol Libertadores Feminina. Timão enters the duel seeking to increase its dominance in the history of the confrontation.

The women's teams of Corinthians and Ferroviária have faced each other 38 times throughout their histories, with the Alvinegro Paulista emerging victorious on 29 occasions, drawing eight times, and losing only once. Additionally, the confrontation includes 106 goals scored, with 85 for the Corinthians side and 21 for the opponents.

The last clash between the clubs took place on August 12 of this year, for the Paulista Championship. On that occasion, Lucas Piccinato's team secured victory against the opponents, playing at Pacaembu, with a score of 2-0, with goals from Dayana Rodríguez and Carol Nogueira.

In the Copa Libertadores, the teams have faced each other only once, and it was precisely in the grand final of the competition. In 2019, Corinthians and Ferroviária met in the tournament's final, and Timão won 2-0, with goals from Giovanna Crivelari and Juliete.

The Alvinegro Paulista reaches the semifinal after thrashing Boca Juniors from Argentina 4-0 in the quarterfinals, while the Araraquara team defeated Independiente del Valle from Ecuador 3-0. The other semifinal will be contested between Colo-Colo from Chile and Deportivo Cali from Colombia.
